CrossFit Games 2021 is nearing and many participants are excited. Along with the usual CrossFit Games competitions like those for men, there will also be events for women. We have all heard about the women's competition, the Pegboard contest, the Cutting system, and Reebok's equipment, but do you know what to expect? Continue reading to learn more! Keep checking the CrossFit news section for the latest updates about the competition.
Competition for women
The 2021 Crossfit Games' women's competition started this morning with the swim race. Jonne Koski, Tia-Clair Toomey Orr, and TiaClair Toomey Orr were the winners in the first event. Koski was the overall winner after keeping her lead throughout the competition. Tall finished second and Eramoo O’Connell third, respectively. It was the women's first event in the Games and the women's side was hoping to complete the podium.
The women's competition is filled with top-level athletes. The field comprises nine athletes, one of whom is a teenager who won the competition in Australia last summer. Other contenders are Australian athlete Kara Saunders, who finished second in Australia and eleventh worldwide in 2020. Andrea Nisler is another rising star. She competed in the team category in 2018 and placed third in the United States, and 15th overall in 2020. The Women's competition will feature these athletes as well as Sara Sigmundsdottir (an Icelandan competitor who won the first place medal at World Crossfit Games earlier last year).
Pegboard contest
The Pegboard contest at the Crossfit Games 2021 was a first. It was added to Crossfit Games' summer Olympic program alongside double-unders & dumbbell overhead Squats. Toomey-Orr held the record for most Games wins with 30. Sager won Event 11 and became the Games' third winner. There were many ties throughout the contest, but ToomeyOrr was the dominant force that won the contest.

Athletes train for the CrossFit Games by focusing on ten general physical fitness skills: cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, power, speed, and agility. Pegboard competition tests competitors' grip strength, coordination, and speed. Competitors hold two wooden pegs between each hand and compete to win. The competition was intense, and the athletes left feeling satisfied after completing their Pegboard.
Cutting system
CrossFit Games has a new cutting system for individual competition. It's not as extreme as the cuts used in past Games, but still very different than this year. The competition has 15 individual events. Therefore, it's likely that the first cut of 30 athletes will occur after the seventh or eight event. One question that remains is how CrossFit will adjust the points distribution after cuts. The scoring table used to determine the winners in the 2019 games was very similar to the one used to determine the losers in 2021. This is why it's most likely that the current system will be used.
This year's CrossFit Games Field includes 236 athletes. This is the largest field in its history. Major cuts are made at the six initial events. The field then drops to 75 athletes. To determine the top ten, the top 30 athletes compete in a sprint tandem. From there, the top 20 athletes compete in the remaining six events. Castro's system was criticized by veterans Games participants who felt the cuts were too large.
Reebok's equipment
Reebok recently announced new CrossFit Games equipment, including clothing and shoes. The Nano X1 are the new shoes. They are designed to suit multiple fitness requirements. Reebok describes this shoe as the "shoe of fitness", but it actually feels more like an ordinary training shoe. DuPont’s Kevlar material is used to make the upper of this shoe, which promotes breathability as well as durability. The shoe's responsiveness can be enhanced by its firm midsole and RopePro Tech.

CrossFit's contract with Reebok will expire at the end 2020. The Games will no longer have a title sponsor. Reebok has sponsored the Games for more than a decade. It is now evident that their involvement in the Games will decrease. Reebok won't be funding the Games' prize fund, but will continue making all athletic apparel and equipment worn athletes by, including the Reebok gear. The company won't refer to itself as "Reebok crossfit games" anymore.

People are living longer today than ever. But as they do, they're also getting sicker. Our current medical science approach is not working, even though we've made many advances.
It's time to change our perceptions of health and aging. For healthy aging, it is important to look at metabolic well-being - not just weight reduction but overall wellbeing.
And if you want to live an active life for decades to come, you should ensure that your metabolism stays strong and healthy throughout your entire lifetime.
There are many options to improve your metabolic health. One of those ways is to incorporate these 7 foods into your diet:

-
Broccoli has sulforaphane. It has been proven to protect cells from DNA damage. It could even slow down the growth of cancer.

Additionally, alcohol can increase insulin sensitivity and make it easier to absorb glucose.
Dehydration can result from alcohol, which can affect your metabolism. Alcohol can also lower testosterone production, which could lead to a decrease in muscle-building potential.
For these reasons, women shouldn't drink alcoholic beverages before working out. Women who are heavily alcoholic should wait at minimum 24 hours before starting to work out.
